Happy 100th ANNIVERSARY to the Illinois State Archives!

the Illinois State Archives are celebrating their 100th Anniversary this summer! On June 20th, 1921, Illinois Governor Len Small signed the legislation that created the Archives. Since then, the Archives have worked tirelessly to preserve Illinois history for future generations.

The Illinois State Archives are a priceless resource for genealogists, and many an Illinois family historian has certainly demolished a brick wall by using records made available through the hard work of the Archives. ISGS is proud of our years of partnership with the Archives. Over the years we have assisted in locating, organizing, indexing, and digiting many record sets throughout the state.

Please join us in wishing a hearty congratulations to the Illinois State Archives on this milestone anniversary! And if you haven’t already, be sure to check out “Finding Ancestors in the Land of Lincoln,” Dr. Joens’ wonderful introduction to the genealogical treasures that can be found in the Archives.
