Illinois State Genealogical Society Conference Theme and Keynote Speaker

SPRINGFIELD, IL, 1 February 2018 – The Illinois State Genealogical Society (ISGS) announces the theme “ Celebrating Our Ancestors” for the 2018 Fall Conference to be held October 26 & 27, 2018 in Springfield, Illinois at President Abraham Lincoln Springfield – a Doubletree Hotel by Hilton. The keynote speaker will be Thomas W. Jones Ph.D., CG®, CGL SM , FASG, FNGS, FUGA. ISGS will be celebrating our 50th Anniversary and the State’s Bicentennial. The ISGS Conference draws attendees of all experience levels, from the beginner to the professional as well as the hobbyist from Illinois and the surrounding states. The conference program committee is seeking new, charismatic and engaging presentations. Suggested topics include: •Illinois History, Immigration, Records, and Repositories •Brickwall Strategies •DNA •Ethnic Groups •Methodology •Organization •Problem Solving •Technology Speakers may submit up to 6 presentations to be considered. Throughout 2018 we're celebrating the Illinois State Genealogical Society's 50th anniversary and the Illinois Bicentennial! As we honor our Illinois ancestors, we'll be sharing names of people who settled in Illinois in or before 1818 from our popular Prairie Pioneers project each month until December 2018.
