Celtic Connections UPDATE and Other VIRTUAL Events - Don't Miss Out on these Great Online Opportunities!
Our friends at Celtic Connections have made the difficult decision to cancel their in-person conference, however they have an exciting announcement about their plans for a VIRTUAL conference:
VIRTUAL JOURNEY HOME
For health and safety reasons we have cancelled the fourth biennial Celtic Connections. The cancellation presents a detour in our “Journey Home.”
However we know that you want to further your education, so we are investigating ways to provide this conference electronically. If our investigations are successful, our journey home will become a virtual experience.
What will this new reality look like? At a minimum, there will be
• On-demand presentations: Pre-recorded talks by many of the CCC ’20 presenters will be available to view online between July 31 and August 31.
• Live “chats”: During that time period there will be moderated chats for presenters and participants to exchange information around various tracks or topics.
• Electronic syllabus: We will provide an online version of the conference syllabus.
As you continue to practice social distancing, watch our Celtic Connections Conference website for updates on the virtual “Journey Home”: http://celtic-connections.org/
Please direct your questions to conference@irishgenealogical.org.
ISGS will keep our members posted on further news!

Exciting News: The National Genealogical Society is providing FREE ACCESS to its NGS Monthly archives through July 31st! Read their announcement below:
During this time when so many Americans must stay at home, the National Genealogical Society (NGS) is offering non-members free access to five years of NGS Monthly. Starting immediately through 31 July 2020, everyone interested in family history can read insightful articles in our digital publication archive. Please let your family and friends know about this free access period and we hope you will also visit often and utilize this benefit throughout the years.
Edited and authored by Aaron Goodwin, an award-winning genealogist, NGS Monthly's articles help researchers of all levels. The articles offer family historians invaluable insights on methodology and digestible recommendations on genealogical research by considering the techniques of skilled researchers and scholars, and how they solved difficult research problems. Topics often examine valuable lessons in case studies published in the scholarly NGS Quarterly to help readers understand how to apply new concepts to their own work...
...These articles from Goodwin and many more, as well as dozens from former editors Laura DeGrazia and Melissa Johnson in the NGS Monthly archives can provide genealogists and family historians hours of fascinating reading and will help them advance their skills as they continue to build their family tree. This free opportunity is available now until 31 July 2020.
You can also access the NGS Monthly archives by going to:
ngsgenealogy.org > Learning Center > NGS Monthly >Archives.
We wish you all the best during these challenging times.
Stay well!
