Illinois State Genealogical Society Announces:
Call for Proposals for 2018 Fall Conference

9, 2018 — Springfield, IL: The Illinois State Genealogical Society (ISGS)
announces their Call for Proposals for the Fall 2018 Conference to be held
October 26 & 27, 2018 at President Abraham Lincoln Springfield – a
Doubletree by Hilton in Springfield, Illinois.
ISGS will
be celebrating our 50th Anniversary and the State’s Bicentennial. The ISGS
Conference draws attendees of all experience levels, from the beginner to the
professional and the hobbyist from Illinois and the surrounding states.
The
program committee is seeking new, charismatic and engaging presentations. Topics
being considered include:
- Illinois History, Immigration, Records, and Repositories
- Brickwall Strategies
- DNA
- Ethnic Groups
- Methodology
- Organization
- Problem Solving
- Technology
Criteria
for Presentations
Presentations
will be 60 minutes, which includes 10 minutes reserved for questions and
answers. Speakers must provide their own digital projector.
Submission
of Proposals
Speakers
may submit up to 6 presentations. Speakers interested in presenting
lectures must submit their proposals through the online application form, click here. All submissions must include:
- Speaker's full name, address, telephone, and e-mail address
- Speaker biography, not to exceed 25 words
- Title of presentation, not to exceed 15 words
- Detailed presentation summary, not to exceed 25 words
- Brief, but detailed outline
- Audience level: beginner, intermediate, advanced, or all
- Current and previous speaking/presentation engagements
Speaker
Compensation
Selected
speakers will receive complimentary conference registration and digital
syllabus, honorarium, travel compensation depending on location of speaker's
residence, and hotel accommodation(s) based on the number of days lectures are
presented.
Submission Deadline and Notification
The
deadline for submission of proposals is February 23, 2018.
Notifications
will be sent via email to all speakers who submitted proposals no later than
March 23, 2018. Syllabus format guidelines and deadline will be sent to
selected speakers at that time.
