ISGS is seeking proposals for 2018 Webinars!

ISGS is seeking proposals for webinar presentations for its 2018 schedule. Illinois will be celebrating its bicentennial in 2018 and to honor the occasion, the webinar presentations should be focused on Illinois.

Live webinars are presented on the second Tuesday of each month at 8:00 pm Central Time and should be 45-55 minutes in length. Attendees can submit questions during the presentation and a short question and answer session will occur afterwards. Speakers that have not presented a webinar before, but feel they are ready, are encouraged to submit. ISGS will provide some additional assistance for those new to the platform.

Presentations on the following topics are encouraged: 

  • Migration patterns - into and out of Illinois 
  • Chicago Fire 
  • Early Illinois settlement, including French and English resources 
  • Illinois Waterways 
  • Using Illinois archives or other repositories including NARA 
  • Railroads 
  • Ethnic or religious population resources 
  • Labor Unions 
  • Illinois newspapers 
  • Underground Railroad in IL 
  • Illinois indentured and slave registers 
  • Criminal Records in IL 
  • Military records, pensions land bounties 
  • Cross-State records 

Please submit the following to isgseducation@ilgensoc.org for consideration by September 28, 2017.

Contact Information – Name, company name, mailing address, email, phone number, comfort level with GotoWebinar platform

Speaker Profile – Name (as you would like it displayed), headshot photo, a short biography focusing on your genealogical background and qualifications, previous speaking engagements (including webinars) or publications.

Presentation - Title (under 100 characters), description of presentation including why it applies to Illinois’ bicentennial, a list of other places this presentation has been given, preferred audience skill level.

ISGS is a statewide genealogical society will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2018. The webinar series began in 2012. Webinars are held the second Tuesday of each month on the GotoWebinar platform. The live webinars are opened to anyone who registers. ISGS records and archives webinars accessed by members only.
