Description: There is a wealth of records among NARA microfilms of US Postmaster appointments (now accessible via Ancestry.com). Ancestors who were merchants, newspaper editors, politicians, or lawyers may have also served as Postmasters. Learn how to access and navigate these records and see how they can be correlated with other documents to get a more complete picture of your ancestor.

Jean Wilcox Hibben, PhD, MA, CG, former So. Cal. college speech professor (MA – Speech Communication; PhD – Folklore) is a Board Certified genealogist, national speaker, and author. She is the former director and current staff trainer for the Corona, CA Family History Center, has worked on background research for two genealogy television programs, and hosts podcasts with Gena Philibert-Ortega, promoting their joint venture “GenealogyJourneys” (genaandjean.blogspot.com). With almost 40 years of research experience, she is a former board member of APG and current President of its So. Cal. Chapter, VP of the Genealogical Speakers Guild, Western Reg.
