DeWitt County Genealogical Society October 5th -  DeWitt County Genealogical Society is participating in  Community Day at Weldon Springs State Park, Clinton.  Area non-profits  have been invited to set up tables 11 am - 4 pm.  The public is asked to  bring a picnic lunch, and there will be games and treats for the kids. Our theme will be centered around gravestone cleaning and the upcoming  bus tour of historically significant cemeteries in DeWitt County. October 26 - Dewitt County Genealogical Society, in conjunction with DeWitt Clinton Chapter DAR, is hosting "Written in Stone," a bus tour of historical DeWitt County cemeteries. The cemetery visits will include graves of Revolutionary War veterans and county founders, a segment  about the supernatural, and a grave witching demonstration.  A running  narrative throughout the tour will point out a ghost town, a tract of  virgin forest and stories about the first settlers.  A box lunch and tour of the Genealogy Room at Vesp
